Please read Parsin’s post about the Israeli/Gaza conflict. He really puts things into perspective in an easy-to-understand way. Check out where he puts the deaths and injuries into American proportions! 8-(
And — *~*~whoo hoo!~*~* — finally we can celebrate a major American newspaper having the fortitude to publish an article calling it like it is in Gaza! From the opinion page … thank you, George E. Bisharat and The Wall Street Journal! It’s about time!!
Maybe we should all write WSJ with our thanks!

Unfortunately its not just american proportions, but also UK, Germany, Italy and some other western governments plus some arabian countires like Egypt and Saudi Arabia..
It’s a shame that some muslim countries are behind this story of pain and massacre and injustice.. It’s really more shame..
Today i saw some fotos about a pro-israeli rally in the US. The message on banner: *Dont stop war until you completely distroy Gaza*
It’s the end of Racism. Even more than what Hitler is accused to do.

Mythos
Shahrzad,
The majority of people who carry banners saying, (or even saying in their hearts) “Don’t stop the war until you completely destroy Gaza”, are usually people who are severely misinformed about the atrocities that are happening in Gaza. They base their views and opinions on the media and what they have heard. Very rarely do they spend any time at all trying to understand what the Palestinians are going through in Gaza.
Most of them, not all, but most of them think they are supporting the peaceful people of Israel when they say things such as you mentioned above. But, what they don’t understand is that the Israeli people may be peaceful, but the Israeli government surely is not.
The Israeli military cannot continually bomb schools, daycare centers, and the homes of innocent Palestinian people “by accident” and then expect me to view their government as peaceful. I do not believe, given the level of technology the Israelis have in their possesion, that the Israeli military makes as many “mistakes” as they claim they do.
So that leads me to believe that some, not all, but some of the so-called “mistakes” were intentionally done. If that is so, then the Israeli government and military are guilty of heinous war crimes against humanity and should be held accountable for those crimes.
That being said, we should all be praying for peace to come to Palestine and Israel soon.

Mythos, thanks for what you added. I agree that most of the people here who are siding with Israel think they are supporting the underdogs who have been enduring terrorism for ages and are just defending themselves. We hear of all those Hamas rockets — and that’s legitimate, but I never recall hearing about the Gazans being starved or denied medicine. People argue “well how long do you expect America would stay silent if Canada were lobbing rockets onto our soil.” Yes, but do we starve the Canadians? It’s not quite the same. They are only telling half-truths which are highly pro-Israel. I know…I was one of those believing all those lies. I remember when I first met Samer and we were discussing the Arab world. I made the comment, “Well, all I know is that we must stand with Israel.” Thank God, Samer knew I was merely ignorant of the facts and didn’t dismiss me right away!!! It was only when he started sharing with me the story from his side that I started to better understand the true nature of the conflict. Since then I have read books and articles and become more firmly convinced in my new beliefs. It’s good to be more aware of both sides instead of the very-heavily pro-Israel side that I grew up with and believed and supported.
Great point about all those Israeli “mistakes.” Uh huh.
